Our fascination with unmanned aerial vehicles began long before the world (or most of the world) started have a conversation about drones. A little fact: decades before us and today’s drone manufacturers, companies and services, Nicola Tesla was the first to develop a patent for a remote-control intended for unmanned vehicles, an invention he called ‘teleautomation’.

Though the concept’s commercial applications didn’t take off very quickly for reasons of physical safety and privacy, it is today both a product and a service, used by business conglomerates, festival organizers and real estate companies. Drones serve functional and strategic purposes. They make entertainment edgy, spread cultural joy, and captivate all kinds of audiences.
